Workshops will focus on deepening connection in both challenging and happy times through improved communication skills, greater empathy and understanding, and harnessing differences to transform the way couples approach conflict. Sessions will include skills for: Strengthening the Relationship, Effective Communication & Conflict Transformation

These sessions will be taught by Jennifer Baublitz, MA/CAGS, of the Brookfield Institute. Jennifer Baublitz is a Military spouse of more than 18 years, and Executive Director of the Brookfield Institute in Ware Massachusetts, an organization dedicated to building resilience in service members, Veterans, and their families to combat the causes and impact of Veteran suicide. She is also an adjunct professor at Assumption University where she received her Master of Arts Degree in School Counseling as well as her Continued Advanced Graduate Degree in Resilience for the Helping Professional, and currently teaches courses in Positive Psychology, School Counseling, and Building Resilience for Service Members, Veterans, and their Families. Early in her career, Jennifer served as a classroom teacher and behavior interventionist, however, it was her experience as a Military spouse coupled with her background in mental health and family supports, that served as the catalyst for her shift from public education towards working with non-profit organizations serving Military and Veteran families. In her various roles in education and the non-profit sector, Jennifer has delivered programming in a variety of settings around building resilience for individuals, families, and communities.

Caregivers Retreat

Caregivers Retreat

How Did the Retreat Go?

I am very happy that I was able to attend. It was very informative and helpful. Met wonderful people. Thank you so much.

Project New hope and other attendees made me feel welcome and supported right away. The knowledge that I gained is already putting a positive impact on my life, and I know this will only continue helping my abilities thru life.

Being with other caregivers gives me a sense of peace.

To know that you are not alone is the best medicine available.

Jennifer and Jeannine were amazing.

Bill, Ann, Jeanine, etc., do a wonderful job of creating a safe and supportive week, balancing care, education, activities, and free time.  Jennifer Foxworthy is an excellent presenter as well as all off the other presenters. I got a lot of insight from all of them. Jeanine’s story was enlightening. I am so grateful for a get-away-from-responsibility week surrounded by the caring and compassionate folks of PNH.

Retreat awesome. Had fun!  Thank you!!

LGBTQ Retreat for Veterans and Active Military

LGBTQ Retreat for Veterans and Active Military

How Did the Retreat Go?

Like many Veterans, I have carried myself fragmented, only presenting the pieces of me that did not challenge those around me – effectively hiding mind injuries of war, as a trade-off deepening my emotional wounds. At the Project New Hope retreat, all “pieces” of, the good ones, which are often praised, the bad ones, which I usually keep hidden in fear of reproach, were welcomed. Throughout a weekend, twelve individuals, with only one commonality, our military service, became a community. In health and resilience, USAF Veteran

Hi, my name is Mitchell. I am a busy aunt, mother, cat mom, and Veteran with PTSD. At first, I told myself I am too busy to attend Project New Hope’s retreat and my family needs me. Then I started to feel stress and my body and mind said, “you need to go to this retreat.” So, I went to the retreat and when I got to the Grotonwood campus, I instantly felt the tension in my body start to relax. I met individuals of like mind who accepted me as I am. I participated in Alternative Therapies and felt like I was on cloud nine after yoga, Acupuncture, and reiki. The Project New Hope retreat weekend dealt with my mind, body, and my soul. I just want to thank Donna, Anne, Bill, and Nick for giving me this time to relax and rejuvenate and learn more about managing my stress levels. I had a wonderful time and I have met the best Veterans here. I cannot wait until next year. Sincerely, Stress-free Mitchell

Extremely fun, met new people, and heard new experiences. Got into new therapy methods.

This is a fantastic experience, and I would like to volunteer for future events as a massage therapist.

This was my first time coming to the retreat and I found it more beneficial than checking myself into the hospital. I was treated as a person and not as a patient with all the alternatives to manage my stress instead of having medication down my throat. It was an honor to donate my deposit rather than get free care from the VA.

The retreat has been enlightening and relaxing. The presentations were well constructed, fun, and engaging.

Soul Injury Veterans Retreat

Soul Injury Veterans Retreat

How Did the Retreat Go?

– Great location, food was excellent, loved the various alternative therapies (reiki, reflexology, etc.)

– Thank you all so much for making this retreat possible.

– I loved the presenter- she is so knowledgeable and has been extremely helpful. I had a busy week so the 1st session Friday was late. I felt in a daze. I could see however that it touched people. The topic is so relevant.

– I found Ritch Ryan to be my favorite part. I learned how to control my breathing in a new way. I liked how there was an opportunity to go to AA @ night. I liked networking with other people.

– So grateful for the opportunity to be around other Veterans learning new techniques to help process some difficult emotions and hopefully learn to live with them better.  The retreat facility was beautiful and had great trails to walk on and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather. The food was fantastic and the PNH staff is so loving and helpful. The holistic practitioners and the workshops are amazing! Thanks for all you do!!!

Soul Injury is Defined as:

1. An overlooked, unassessed wound that separates us from our own sense of self.
2. An aching wound perpetuated by unmourned loss, unforgiven guilt/shame, and diminished self-compassion that is often manifested as a sense of emptiness, loss of meaning, or a sense that a part of self is missing or in exile.
3. A long-lasting response to a person or situation that causes one to feel personally defective, inadequate, or unworthy.

Three powerful workshops will embolden us to connect with our own Soul Injury: Re-Own, Re-Home, and then Re-Vitalize those scattered, once disowned pieces of ourselves.

Donna, Bill, and facilitators, I can’t even imagine a retreat more ideal than this one! The healing I received was so unexpected! Along with the healing, I learned a lot about myself and my need for other people. Thank you for connecting me to humanity again.

Gratefully, Cheryl R.
P.S I love you Brady!

On the form when I got there, I said I was somewhat stressed. I was excited to become not stressed. I loved the whole experience and people and I looked forward to each day. Plus, I had an awesome roommate!

Erin Q.

The camp was beautiful, facilities were nice, classes were interesting, fun, and full of helpful information. Fellow Vets were polite and caring. Loved working with horses! Thank you!

Devin H.

This was a great opportunity to calm things down and try to work through issues we all have. It’s hard to take time in my daily routine. Project New Hope was a great experience. The people were loving and friendly. The setting was relaxed and uplifting. Knowledgeable with PTSD, depression, and sexual abuse. The facility was awesome, and the food was also excellent. I would recommend and will recommend this retreat to all Veterans. I look forward to more Project New Hope events. I have made some great friends. I tend to isolate myself from people. This wasn’t an issue. I felt like I was accepted as family. What an awesome experience I had this weekend. I am so grateful for being here. Thank you! -WM

This retreat was a transformative experience for me. Learning from other Veterans about their trauma gives me a heightened awareness of other concerns I can bring to my work. Thank you. -MH
